About this space
The Thornbury Community Hall is a great multi-functional space suitable for regular groups or one-off events. This space is ideal for community gatherings and groups, church services, dance classes and leisure groups, training and workshops, markets, fairs, and so much more.
Located on the edge of Mayer Park, the old community hall has been a feature of the Thornbury area for decades. It boasts a hardwood floor, allowing for an easy clean-up and a flexible layout within the space, and a small, raised stage.
You are welcome to bring in your own catering, however Bridge Darebin's own Moon Rabbit Social Enterprise Café, located a short 5 minutes' drive away at our Preston campus, would love to arrange a catering quote for you.
The venue is fully accessible with a wheelchair-friendly ramp at the front and accessible bathroom facilities. There is optional access to a large kitchen attached to the hall.

21 folding tables (each seats 6-8 depending on configuration). Additional tables are available upon request, pending availability

Option to add kitchen for additional fee

A mandatory bond is taken for all bookings, refundable upon return of any issues keys & venue as per Bridge Darebin's Terms & Conditions.
Public Liability Insurance is compulsory for all hirers - if you do not already hold your own, one-off insurance can be purchased through Darebin Council. Proof of insurance must be provided prior to venue hire.
If using your own business insurance, a Certificate of Currency is to be provided.
Alcohol is NOT permitted in any Bridge Darebin venue.
All rooms are to be left as they are found.
You are welcome to arrange the space as you wish, however you cannot use pins (except in the pinboards) or tape on the walls. Any Blu-Tack used must be removed at the end of your hire. Furniture is to be returned to its original location.
Your booking should include enough time to setup and pack down.

Rules
CLEANING AND RUBBISH REMOVAL (charges apply for non-compliance):
All rooms are to be left as they are found. You are welcome to arrange the space as you wish, however furniture is to be returned to its original location.
The Facilities must be thoroughly cleaned and cleared of all decorations, signs and rubbish.
Floors must be swept with the broom provided.
Spills must be mopped from floors with the mop provided.
Tables and benches must be wiped down.
If utilising kitchen, it must be left with all benches wiped, floor cleaned, ovens cleaned, and all dishes put away.
Rubbish, including balloons, must be removed from the premises. Rubbish (bagged or otherwise) must not be left anywhere on the premises, including in the on-site “wheelie bins”.
No sticky tape, hooks or nails can be used on any walls, doors or door frames.
DAMAGE:
The floors, walls, curtains or any part of Bridge Darebin premises including furniture and fittings must not be broken, pierced by screws or nails, scratched or in any other way damaged (including the use of adhesive tape).
The Hirer accepts responsibility for damage to Bridge Darebin, or to private property, and agrees to meet the full cost of cleaning or repairing or replacing any of these should any damage occur as a result of the hire.
The Venue Hire Manager's assessment of the damage shall be taken as final. The amount assessed will be deducted from any bond held or paid immediately an account is rendered.
SMOKING:
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere on site, including in any of the buildings, in the gardens, playgrounds or yards.
ALCOHOL:
- Alcohol is NOT permitted in any Bridge Darebin venue.

All-day free on-street parking available on Leinster Grove & Shaftesbury Parade.
Croxton on the Mernda line is the closest railway station, 16-20 minutes' walk from the venue.
The 510 bus route is about four minutes' walk (Mayer Park/Leinster Grove stop).
The number 11 tram route runs along St Georges Road (Normanby Avenue stop); and the route 86 tram on High Street is also an option (Woolton Avenue or Normanby Avenue/Clarendon Street stops. Normanby Avenue offers a traffic light-controlled pedestrian crossing at St Georges Road; both Normanby Ave and Woolton St are crossing points on the railway line).
