About this space

5th Brunswick Scout Hall is in Weston St, East Brunswick. We are a well-established and active Scouting Group. Scouts is a community based, not for profit youth organisation, using adventurous programs to teach practical life skills and help young people develop into strong, resilient adults who are also confident leaders. Hiring out our facilities to our local community helps us to raise funds for our Scouting activities. Our halls are perfect spaces for children's parties, family gatherings, theatre workshops and rehearsals, community events and more.

5th Brunswick Scout Hall has 2 interconnecting spaces - North Hall and South Hall. Our halls can accommodate 120 guests.

  • North Hall (approximately 10x20m) has 3 split system heating and cooling units. This hall has wall mounted whiteboards for use, plus a fixed wall mounted TV. Please bring any cables and adaptors that you may need.

  • South Hall (approximately 10x15m) has heating only. This hall has a small raised stage at one end, with a wall mounted whiteboard for use.

  • Kitchen has a large domestic oven, stove and microwave, fridge and freezer, instant boiling water unit, urn, electric jug and toaster. There is a limited supply of crockery, glasses, mugs, cutlery and cooking equipment. You are welcome to use the kitchen for self catering for your event or for use with external caterers.

You are permitted to serve alcohol at your event. If you intend to sell alcohol at your event, please make sure you have obtained the required liquor license from the Victorian Government.

Cleaning equipment is provided. You are expected to leave the kitchen and halls as you found them and book enough time to clean after your event. All rubbish must be removed and deposited into the outside bins or taken away if these are full.

All events must finish and guests leave by 10pm.The hall may be hired until 11pm for cleaning purposes.

Included in the hall hire is;

  • Use of either North Hall, South Hall or both

  • Kitchen

  • Wifi

  • 20 folding plastic rectangular tables 1800 x 700mm

  • 120 plastic chairs

  • Whiteboards

  • Wall mounted TV in the North Hall

  • North Hall Heating and Cooling

  • South Hall Heating

  • All cleaning equipment is provided. You are expected to leave everything as you found it and book enough time to clean after your event has finished. All rubbish must be removed and placed in the outside bins.

You are welcome to decorate the hall space for your event. However, you cannot use pins or tape or anything that would damage the hall walls. Blu tac is OK. Please note the hall must be left as you found it, so all decorations must be removed. Confetti, rice, glitter or party poppers are not permitted.

You may use an external event hire company if you want to bring your own furniture, table cloths, drapes etc. All decorations and anything you have brought in for your event must be removed by the end of your booking, as we cannot accommodate storage or set up/pack down before or after your booking time has ended. Please book the time you need in the hall space to set up, pack down and clean.

The hall space is large enough for a children's bouncy castle.

The halls are available for regular hire weekdays only. We have reduced rates for regular bookings, message us through this page to discuss what you need.

Rules

No Smoking or Vaping: Smoking and vaping is strictly prohibited inside the hall and on the premises.

Respectful Behavior: Please maintain a respectful and considerate demeanor at all times. Treat fellow users, the property, and its contents with care and respect.

Noise Levels: Keep noise levels at a reasonable level, especially during evening hours to avoid disturbing our neighbours. All events must finish and guests leave by 10pm. The hall may be hired until 11pm for cleaning purposes.

No 18 or 21st: No 18 or 21st Birthday parties, or similar milestone birthday celebrations.

Decorations: Please remove all decorations. No confetti, rice, glitter or party poppers.

Cleanliness: Leave the hall in the same clean and tidy condition as you found it. All cleaning materials are provided. Rubbish must be removed to the outside bins or taken away if they are full.

Host's Cancellation Policy
100% refund on cancellations up until 7 days before your booking. After that, cancel and get a 50% refund.
Parking and Public Transport Information

The hall can be accessed by catching the Route 96 tram along Nicholson Street and getting off at the Miller Street stop 20 or via Route 1 or 6 along Lygon Street and getting off at Weston Street stop 121. It is then a short 5 minute walk to the hall.

Free on street parking is available. There is space for parking three cars in the driveways.
