About this space

Our Main Hall at Neill St is a character-filled, high ceilinged hall, offering a flexible venue space for performances, rehearsals, functions and events.

With a built-in stage and a large open flat-floor area, the space lends itself to theatre, music, comedy, spoken word, launches, lectures and more.

Space Hire Includes:

  • Seats: 150 theatre-style, 80 at round tables

  • Stage (dimensions)

  • Extra chairs that can be moved into the Hall from other rooms depending on availability if other groups are using those rooms. The hirer is responsible for moving chairs in and out of the Hall.

  • Audio/speaker system

  • Free wifi

The Main Hall can be booked hourly for rehearsals during the week, and for morning, afternoon and evening sessions on the weekends for a minimum of 4 hours. You need to book time for any set up and pack down time as well as your event. The venue must be returned to how you found it as we have regular services and events.

How to access the venue will be communicated before your event starts.

Ballarat Performing Arts Community is a not for profit organisation, representing the performing arts sector and community in Ballarat. We manage this venue and have many programs and opportunities in the works to support and develop the performing arts in Ballarat.

Wedding Venue

We would love to help you celebrate your special day for either your ceremony or reception. The Main Hall can be dressed to your liking and is a magnificent space to host your reception. For more information about weddings at Neill St, please send us a message.

Catering & Alcohol
We don't provide catering but we're happy for you to organise this. We can recommend many caterers in our area that have healthy and delicious options.

There is an old kitchen space in this building, but it is not presently functional.
We have a shared kitchen space in the 1861 building where you can store and plate up food. There is a microwave, urn and a small fridge. Hirers will need to organise all further equipment.

Alcohol: The sale of alcohol is permitted on these premises by applying for a liquor licence through, https://liquor.vic.gov.au

Regular bookings
We'd love to host your group regularly. You can book multiple sessions and pay upfront, or message us if you would like to book ahead and pay monthly. We can help find a regular slot that works for you.

Accessibility:
The Main Hall is easily accessible for wheelchairs via the front doors, however, unfortunately the rear entrance and access to the stage from the back involves stairs.
We do have accessible toilets.

We're open for viewings in normal business hours - although our rooms are busy, so best to message us to check for a suitable time
Please note parking is free in the streets around our venue, but please be mindful of our neighbours' driveways.

We're also very close to the Ballarat Train Station and the CBD, where there are many great accommodation options. Ask us if you need some assistance.

Rules

A venue induction is required prior to accessing the space. Please contact us to arrange a time.

When using our spaces, please:

· leave the venue clean and tidy

· turn off all appliances and lights

· replace all furniture where it was found

· clean all items used and return them to storage

· lock all doors and close all windows

· remove all rubbish from the venue.

Additional details

Host's Cancellation Policy
100% refund on cancellations up until 14 days before your booking. After that, there are no refunds on cancellation.
Parking and Public Transport Information

Public transport includes a bus that runs along MacArthur St.

Plenty of free parking in the surrounding streets.
Please be aware we are in a residential area - please be respectful of our neighbours by not blocking driveways and keeping noise to a minimum as your arrive at and leave our venue.
