The Chapel is the perfect venue for performance, functions or celebrations.

This former church retains its original features, including the pipe-organ, pews, stained-glass windows, high ceilings and incredible acoustics, and it is a natural community gathering space.

Situated minutes from the CBD with free parking, hosting your event here could not be more convenient.

About BPAC:

Ballarat Performing Arts Community is a not for profit organisation, representing the performing arts sector and community in Ballarat. We manage this venue and have many programs and opportunities in the works to support and develop the performing arts in Ballarat.

The Chapel is a beautiful building. Stunning stained-glass windows surround the space, filling it with a glorious light and ambience. The Chapel space is ideal for hosting regular or one-off activities and concerts such as drama, singing and music. It could be used for community meetings, art exhibitions or speaking sessions. The natural acoustics and ambience make it an ideal space for concerts and choirs. We’ve hosted bands to orchestras and are open to all types of music in our space.

Space Hire Includes:

  • Seating Capacity of 300 on pews (with feet heaters!)

  • Extra chairs that can be moved into the Chapel from other rooms depending on availability if other groups are using those rooms. The hirer is responsible for moving chairs in and out of the Chapel

  • Basic audio system - please advise if you need assistance (there may be additional charges for extra equipment or personnel)

  • Free wifi

The Chapel can be booked for morning, afternoon and evening sessions for a minimum of 4 hours. You need to book time for any set up and pack down time as well as your event. The Chapel must be returned to how you found it as we have regular services and events.

There may be additional charges if you are selling tickets to your event.

Instructions on how to access the venue will be communicated in the days before your booking.

Wedding Venue

We would love to help you celebrate your special day for either your ceremony or reception. For more information about weddings at The Chapel, please send us a message via email.

Catering & Alcohol
We don't provide catering but we're happy for you to organise this. We can recommend many caterers in our area that have healthy and delicious options.

We have a shared kitchen space in the 1861 building where you can store and plate up food. There is a microwave, urn and a small fridge. Hirers will need to organise further equipment if needed.

Alcohol: The sale of alcohol is permitted on these premises by applying for a liquor licence through, https://liquor.vic.gov.au

Regular bookings
We'd love to host your group regularly. You can book multiple sessions and pay upfront, or message us if you would like to book ahead and pay monthly. We can help find a regular slot that works for you.

Accessibility:
This Chapel is easily accessible for wheelchairs, all on one level. We have a disabled toilet.
We're open for viewings in normal business hours - although our rooms are busy, so best to message us to check for a suitable time
Please note parking is free in the streets around our venue, but please be mindful of our neighbours' driveways.

Rules

A venue induction is required prior to accessing the space. Please contact us to arrange a time.

When using our spaces, please:

· leave the venue clean and tidy

· turn off all appliances and lights

· replace all furniture where it was found

· clean all items used and return them to storage

· lock all doors and close all windows

· remove all rubbish from the venue.

Additional details

Host's Cancellation Policy
100% refund on cancellations up until 14 days before your booking. After that, there are no refunds on cancellation.
Parking and Public Transport Information

Public transport includes a bus that runs along MacArthur St.

Plenty of free parking in the surrounding streets.
Please be aware we are in a residential area - please be respectful of our neighbours by not blocking driveways and keeping noise to a minimum as your arrive at and leave our venue.
