About this space
St Heliers Centre was founded on the principle of caring for our local community, so we're happy to share our excellent facilities with groups, individuals and families who are looking for a safe and welcoming space.
A beautiful mix of modern and traditional, our Church/Auditorium space is large and open with windows on either side and a stunning stained glass window to let plenty of natural light in.
Wedding ceremonies at St Heliers Church
Our St Heliers Church Sanctuary located in the St Heliers Community Centre is an aesthetically appealing, light filled space, with excellent acoustics, and seating for up to 180 people.
If you’re looking for the ideal space to create your dream wedding without breaking the bank the, look no further. Anyone can be married in St Heliers Church – you do not have to be a church member or subscribe to our faith.
Our wedding package:
The wedding package is a fixed price of $600 including GST that includes:
• Use of the Church for 3 hours for your wedding ceremony (including set up/decorating and pack down).
• A 1-hour rehearsal.
• Audio-visual technician for wedding and rehearsal.
Optional extras:
• Use of grand piano and/or pipe organ @ $100 (does not include pianist/organist, however we can recommend musicians)
• Does not include minister or celebrant (this is available at an extra charge of $500 or you can use your own minister/pastor/celebrant)
• Additional hours above the 3 hour minimum required for weddings can be added at $120 per hour.
A “space protect” holding bond fee will be applied to your credit card 3 days prior to your booking. This is required for the booking to proceed and will be released if the premises are left in satisfactory condition and the time and terms of conditions are complied with.
FAQs about weddings at St Heliers Church:
Does it matter if one of us has already been married or in a civil union? No. A legally dissolved former marriage or civil union is not a barrier to a wedding in our church.
If you are currently in a civil union as a couple, the civil union must be dissolved before you can marry one another.
Does it matter if we are already living together? No.
Do we have to have attend any classes or courses? No.
Do we have to attend church before our wedding? No.
Is their wheel-chair access? Yes, and disabled toilets.
Can we arrange our own flowers? Yes, we do not organise flowers although our standard church arrangement can stay or be removed for your wedding event.
Can we decorate the church? Yes, but you are responsible for removing all decorations and vacuuming floors before leaving.
Do we need a rehearsal? Yes, we recommend an hour’s rehearsal a few days before the wedding.
Is parking available? There are limited off-road parking spaces, but plenty of parking in suburban streets surrounding the Community Centre. There are 4 parking spaces close to the front door for the bridal party.

Community lounge
All hirers and their guests are welcome to gather in the our community lounge before their event. This has comfy casual seating, a peaceful courtyard.
Eating & Drinking
You are able to book the full kitchen as an add-on, for lite use (tea/coffee and finger food etc.) or full use (cooking meals etc.). Consumption of food is not allowed in the church space
Hirers are responsible for removing all rubbish from site.
No alcohol can be consumed or sold at the facility under the terms of our licence.
Decorations & Music
You're welcome to bring decorations for your event. Please do not use pins to attach to the wall, and all decorations must be removed at the end of your booking. No confetti please.
The centre is located in a residential area and due care and respect must be shown to neighbouring properties with regard to noise both during and after the event. Hirers are responsible for managing noise during the event. Noise from amplifiers and loudspeakers (especially from live bands ) must be kept to a moderate level at all times.
Accessibility
The room is fully wheelchair accessible. There is an accessible toilet. The centre has 1 disabled parking slot.
Location
St Heliers Centre is a 5 minute walk into the lovely St Heliers village and beach. It has plenty of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants. The Tamaki Link bus connects the village to the city every 15 minutes.

Rules
Hours of Activity
Hirers must vacate the premises no later than 9.45pm including clean up. Hirers may not enter any facility until the time booked and all functions must finish at the completion of the booked period. The booking period must include setting up, dismantling, and cleaning of the venue.
Cleaning
Hirers are responsible for packing down, cleaning and removing any rubbish from the venue. Failure to do so will result in these costs being deducted from your bond or your bond being with held.
It is the responsibility of each hirer to clean and vacuum any area that they have used. Chairs and tables need to be stored as they were found or as agreed after use. No gathering outside the front of the centre after 9.45pm.
Please note that there is a $500 SpaceProtect/Bond fee. This will be fully refunded to you if the space is left in a satisfactory condition.
ALWAYS leave the front of the building clear for emergency vehicles and for vehicles dropping off disabled people.
Alcohol & Smoking
This is an alcohol and smoke free facility
CCTV
We have cameras throughout the St Heliers Centre recording activity. Footage is regularly monitored to ensure the smooth running of the centre. If we suspect our regulations/rules relating to the use of our premises is being violated we may access this as evidence.
Additional details
There is plenty of free residential parking on the street. DO NOT park on the grass or yellow marked parking areas.
