Mitcham Cultural Village - Institute Hall

The Institute Hall was built in 1870 and was the original community facility in Mitcham Village. The MCV Institute Hall is an ideal facility for your next seminar, workshop, exhibition, performance, cocktail function, fundraiser, memorial service or birthday party. It is a multi-purpose venue with the capability of being utilized for a wide range of purposes.

The hall can accommodate a large gathering, with seating available (theatre-style) for 100, plus tables and chairs (cabaret-style) for up to 80 people. The hall is equipped with audio visual (AV) equipment, please bring your own HDMI cable & laptop, data projector, lectern and cordless microphones, all of which are included in the hire fee. Beautiful acoustic panels showing the history of the local area compliment the building.

Adjacent the hall is the kitchen, supper room and toilets. The kitchen has been modernized and is equipped with commercial grade oven and cooktops, extensive refrigeration, dishwasher and other appliances. Internal and external access ramps are installed for ease of entry and navigation throughout the facility. A baby grand piano is an addition to the hall and is available for use.

The MCV East Wing is also available for hire – it is an annex to the Institute Hall and is accessible from the main entrance atrium and with a connecting door to the Institute Hall. The East Wing is regularly used as a gallery space for art exhibitions so is not suitable for larger gatherings. It is ideal as a training room or meeting room for small to medium sized gatherings (up to 30 people).
