Part of the Bowden urban renewal project, Emu Park resembles a Spanish ‘plaza’ (or ‘plaça’), a central meeting place within a town. With multiple entry points the park invites us in to sit under the multiple shaded seating options, bring a ball or a book, and enjoy the sculpture art and namesake of the park.

Within the thriving urban neighbourhood, a stone’s throw from the city, this playful park actively complements its surroundings.

Bowden is designed as a walkable residential & cultural zone, with the surrounding area offering art spaces and galleries, community gardens and the Plant 4 market to explore.

Emu Park offers a lively space for gatherings, parties, celebrations, Emu Park has hosted site launches, birthday parties and family & community gatherings, is easily accessible to the city, and to public transport options.

NB. Event organisers should consider portable bathrooms (toilets) as part of the event preparation.

Examples of approved activities suitable for the Reserve;

• Small scale community activities and/or services catering to all ages and cultural groups ie biodiversity and nature groups, child play groups etc.

• Activities of a passive or limited active nature that promote a healthy active lifestyle e. tai chi, yoga etc.

• Small family celebratory events.
