About this space
One of our most popular large open spaces, this multi-use reserve offers a wonderful array of activities for all ages. With coastal pine trees and fresh sea breezes, this reserve is located alongside one of South Australia’s beautiful beach strips.
Thoughtfully landscaped to complement the coastal conditions, upgraded in 2017, the reserve features the following;
two play spaces (junior and youth/senior playgrounds),
large grass space for ball play,
a coastal themed nature play area including creek and sandpit,
outdoor learning space with amphitheatre (landscaped),
full size basketball court & two tennis courts with lights,
fitness equipment,
public bathrooms (toilets) located at Semaphore Life Saving Club
bike/ walking paths and
oodles of open space
The Reserve connects to the Coast Park’s dual walking and cycling path along this pristine piece of South Australian coast.
Barbecue and picnic areas include under cover tables & shade structures with surrounding grass and natural vegetation. All are a wonderful match for the wide-open sky, making Point Malcolm Reserve an ideal location for outdoor parties, picnics and large events.
Examples of approved activities suitable for the Reserve;
Activities of a passive or active nature that promotes a healthy active lifestyle ie tai chi, yoga, outdoor fitness training groups, minor competitive sports, cycling, tennis, running etc. • Community and recreational events, activities and/or services catering to all ages and cultural groups such as surf lifesaving activities, child play groups, dog training, surf lifesaving, biodiversity and nature activities, fun runs etc.
Fundraising, educational and community awareness events that support cultural diversity, health, fitness and general community wellbeing such as fitness displays, culturally significant celebrations, fun runs, mud runs etc.
Artistic, cultural and community events that support a diversity of community interests and pursuits such as car show displays, art displays, music performances, food events, pop up bar, market events and mobile food vending etc.
Celebratory events such as staff Christmas picnics, weddings, christenings, children’s birthday parties.

Rules
§ No confetti or rice may be used at Council venues and open spaces
§ Volume of music must be controlled in the interest of nearby park-goers and must cease no later than booking duration
§ Water weights may be used to secure shade structures, however under no circumstances shall tent pegs/stakes or any other object be driven into the ground without council approval
§ Users must display written Council approval, and proof of line marking if erecting any pegged tent/ marquees
§ Toilets – Soap or hand sanitiser, and paper towels shall be provided by the hirer
§ Users must display written Council approval for any and all equipment erected at Council venues § Users must display written Council approval for any and all Jumping Castles/ Amusement Rides/ Petting Zoos
§ Users must display written Council approval for any and all special activities such as (but not limited to) Vehicle Access, Merchandise Vendors, Food Vendors, Entertainment, Sales of merchandise, alcohol, products and other commercial activities
14 Days notice is required for all irrigation marking.
