Centre for Movement Studies
Hosted by Sara Elderfield
SpacetoCo Host since February 2019A quiet refuge next to Lake Jualbup.
About this space
The studio is an independent hall (98sqms) attached to the back of the West Subiaco Masonic Hall located on the corner of Herbert and Evans Street, Shenton Park overlooking Lake Jualbup. There is a wonderful garden in front of the studio and our entrance is on Evans Street. However, the google directions may be easier if you search for the West Subiaco Masonic Hall at 76 Herbert Road, Shenton Park.
The studio has all the equipment required for private or group yoga, Feldenkrais and/or meditation classes (or similar). It fits between 16-24 people lying down depending on how you arrange the space (lines or circle) and up to 60 in chairs for meetings and seated meditation classes. There is a full kitchen available only by request for those teaching workshops or hosting meetings.
There are 2 unisex toilets.
The studio also has a full picture hanging system and has been used for small pop up art shows (on Saturday afternoons and Sundays or in the school holidays) in the past.
Loud music that could be overheard by the neighbours is not allowed as we are in a residential area but music played at normal levels is permissible.

Rules
Hirers are required to have current public liability insurance in order to hire the Centre for Movement Studies / Yoga Moves studio. Please include a copy of your current public liability policy which shows the expiry date of the policy at the time of booking.
Food and drinks except water are not permitted in the studio unless hirer has prior permission and is prepared to accept liability for carpet cleaning should any spills/damage occur.
No fires. Massage oils, oil burners, tea lights and incense are not permitted inside the studio. Should you burn incense or oil in the lobby outside, it must be turned off, blown out when you commence teaching. Candles must be blown out as you leave.
The studio should be left in the condition that you found it. Hirers who cause damage to the carpet or other fittings will be liable for the cleaning or replacement cost. This is particularly related to the carpet and the red Feldenkrais table.
If you remove anything from the studio, it must be returned upon leaving. The foyer area including the equipment shelves should be left neat and orderly especially the blankets and yoga blocks.
All bookings will be scheduled with at least a 15 minute or longer gap between them. If the studio is in use when you arrive, please be mindful of noise levels as everything that goes on in the foyer and outside in the garden can be heard by those in the room.
Hirers may be able to use the kitchen but must be aware that they do not necessarily have exclusive use – it is a shared kitchen with the Masonic Hall groups. It should be left spotless. Any items, especially glassware, used from the kitchen should be returned to their original place. Kitchen use is only with specific permission.
Key pick up will be arranged nearer to commencement (for new hirers this will mean 15 minutes of instruction in how the place works – there are some switches for the toilets in odd places etc and a few doors to open with keys etc).
Only courses and classes on the studio timetable are advertised at the studio. Please leave no advertising material in the lobby or on pin up boards. Hirers are responsible for bringing their own clients.
No pets please.
