We are a Neighbourhood House nestled in beautiful and leafy Northcote, run by a small team of dedicated staff and supported by the wonderful people of the community. Jika is a space for local residents like you: to empower you in what you’re trying to achieve, to learn something new and fun, and to help you access whatever community support is useful to you.

About this space

Group room / exercise room 3 is suitable gentle exercise activities or could be set up for training space if required. The room does not contain tables and chairs but these could be organised.

The room is upstairs (first floor), accessible by a large staircase or small lift. There is a lounge area available outside the room.

Suitable for yoga, tai chi, pillates, gentle dance, or could be set up for First Aid training, etc

The room includes access to yoga mats and other yoga equipment. There are a variety of padded mats but PLEASE NOTE, the floor surface is otherwise very firm and not suitable for high impact activities but has light coming in from doors on both sides.

This room does not have any external windows.

Daily charge is capped at 6 hours.

The room dimensions are approx. 7.6m x 9.8m.

This room includes access to a shared kitchen area.

Jika Jika Community Centre is temporarily relocating from our fabulous venue in Plant Street Northcote due to works at our regular building.

During this time we have use of the amazing Preston Courthouse and we invite community groups, support groups, raining organisations and similar to help us activate these great spaces.

We have several rooms which can be used flexibly and are ideally suited for small meetings / counselling / therapy. They present a great opportunity to work in a terrific location and join our Jika community.

Offices are located on the ground floor and first floor of the old Courthouse building.

As there are several rooms available, you are invited to come and have a look and choose the room which is most suitable for your needs.

Amenities include access to a kitchenette, tables and chairs, and waiting areas upstairs and downstairs.

Discounts are available to regular hirers, unfunded community groups, small not-for-profits and individuals with pension / health care cards. Please enquire if this sounds like you.

Lost key call out charge

Cost of staff call out for lost key and key replacement

Tea and Coffee

Tea and coffee available if required, including a wide variety of herbal teas.

Failure to turn off heating / aircon

$20.00 per booking

This fee will be applied to hall hirers who leave the heating or aircon on overnight. Pleae keep our electricty cotst down and help the environment by always turning it off.
