The Palais Main Hall

Located in Franklin in the heart of the Huon Valley, a 30-minute drive south of Hobart, Tasmania, this beautiful theatre has been a symbol of the social heart and great tradition of the Huon region since 1912.

Perfect for fundraising events, music concerts, and discos, the Palais Theatre is also suitable for movie screenings, meetings, and large gatherings. Whether it's an intimate get-together or a grand event, the hall's flexible layout and amenities create a practical and welcoming space for any occasion.

The theatre has a curtained stage with backstage greenroom. Facilities include stage lighting, sound system and projector. Technical Specifications for equipment and tech support services are available on request.

The Franklin Market is held each month from September to May and The Franklin Collective - a small retail outlet showcasing local artisan’s products and fresh produce - is open Friday to Sunday from October through to June

Pricing:

Standard Hourly rate Monday - Thursday: $30

A surcharge of $5 per hour applies for bookings from Friday to Sunday

Day rates:
$150 - Monday to Thursday
$175 - Friday to Saturday

Please be aware when making a booking that you will only have access to the venue within your booked times. Make sure you include time in your booking for setting up, packing up and cleaning up after your event so you can leave the venue when your booking ends.

Additional Charges:

A bond of $250 is required for all bookings. If alcohol is available, the bond increases to $500. The bond is fully refundable within 7 days of the completion of your hire once the post-hire inspection is completed.

Food and Drink:

You are welcome to serve alcohol at your event, although please note that you will need to pay a $500 bond (see Additional Charges above) and cover for service of alcohol will need to be included in your Public Liability Insurance.

If you plan to sell alcohol at your event, you will also need to apply for a Special Liquor Permit and all people or staff who are selling alcohol will need to hold a current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA).

The Palais has limited food preparation and food warming facilities. Please ensure you are familiar with the Food and Safety Standards if you are catering your event.

Access:

You will be provided with access details to the venue once your hire is confirmed.

The Palais has wheelchair access through a side door and there are accessible toilets at the rear of the building adjacent to the parking area.

Cleaning:

The venue must be left as you found it. All chairs and tables will need to be folded and stacked as they were found and all areas left clean and tidy.
