The Shire of Murray is a local government area of Western Australia. It is located in the Peel Region about 80 kilometres south of the Perth central business district. The Shire extends across the Peel Inlet and the Swan Coastal Plain into the Darling Scarp, including about 77,000 hectares of State forests. The Murray River flows all year throughout the district. The Shire is centred in the town of Pinjarra, one of the oldest towns in WA.

About this space

A charming 1860's building boasting beautiful architectural elements such as leadlight windows, architectural elements such as leadlight windows and archways, as well as rich wooden features including floor coverings, doors and pews.

St John's Church is one of the oldest existing church buildings in Western Australia, and an early example of a small rural church designed in a rustic British architectural style. As one of the oldest structures in Pinjarra, contributing considerably towards the community's social fabric and sense of place.

The church is valued by the community for its associations with the district's early settler families many of which are buried in the churchyard, along with several of the church rectors.

Electric organ, baptismal font, wooden altar and pulpit are all available for use within the church (non-removable). Secure this iconic building to add a touch of difference to your event.

  • Set-up and clean up must be included in booking times, additional charges may be applied for post event cleaning

  • Keys can be collected one day prior and must be returned on the first working day following your booking

  • Permit to Consume Alcohol on Shire Property required for alcohol consumption

  • No open flames permitted

  • All rubbish must be removed
