Free hire all year round, from 8am to 4pm.
The Mobi-Chair is the only floating beach wheelchair Australian standards tested and approved under the requirements of AS/NZS.
How to Hire:
1. Complete the booking application online (alternative formats are also available on request).
2. Wait for booking approval.
3. Organise at least TWO carers to assist.
4. Head to South Beach Cafe with Photo ID - Ocean Road, South Fremantle.
5. Have fun at the beach! Once approval is granted please make your way to South Beach Café with a relevant booking approval and photo identification to collect the keys for the wheelchair – Ocean Road, South Fremantle. Subject to demand, the City has the right to limit the number of times hirers can book each week to ensure other users have the opportunity to hire. Using the chair:
1. Provide proof of identification and booking approval from City of Fremantle to South Beach Café manager when picking up the key.
Check the beach wheel chair to ensure wheel pins are secure and it is working properly.
Lock the storage hut while using the chair (the hut may be used for storage of your items during use).
If there is any damage or faults with the chair, please report this to the Bookings Officer.
Return the key to the South Beach Café.

Rules
SAFTEY INSTRUCTIONS
1. Please do not try to use the beach wheel chair (the chair) on your own. A minimum of two carers are required to assist the user.
If the person using the chair has severe balance or sitting problems or is prone to pressure sores, back pain or other similar conditions, please consult your Doctor before use.
Lifejackets can be used with the chair, but they need to be provided by the user.
The maximum safe weight loading is 136kg.
Please do not leave the chair unattended especially in the water or sloping ground.
The chair is not designed to move up and down stairs while loaded.
The chair is suitable for many surfaces including sand and some hiking paths. However please do not use the chair on uneven terrain or on steep slopes as it could tip over.
The chair is designed to be used in the water. The floating armrests and three balloon tyres enable users to float safely and comfortably. The two outside floating devices create stability in the water and ensure the chair stays upright.
Please take into consideration any specific issues related to the disability of the user which may affect the use of the chair.
Please follow the directions of the City of Fremantle if they are in attendance and be aware the beach is not constantly patrolled by surf lifesaving or any other persons. Noting the chair is to be used within the confines of South Beach.
