Hamersley Inlet Campground is a small campground with 14 sites that offers basic camping amenities in a natural bush setting located within the internationally acclaimed Fitzgerald River National Park, a botanical wonderland that is home to over 1800 species of wildflowers and forming 20% of Western Australia’s flora species within this park.
This is a great little campground easily accessible year-round via the southern sealed section of Hamersley Drive just minutes from the Hopetoun town centre. Hamersley Drive south is an undulating winding road, with stunning ocean and interior landscape views of the National Park. Please note just prior to reaching the Hamersley Inlet Campground, there is a short steep decline (well sign posted) so please reduce speed and drive to conditions.
During dry conditions, you can enter from South Coast Highway via West River Road south to access the unsealed Hamersley Drive North (caravans, large buses or motor homes not permitted on unsealed roads in the National Park) however, as the road can become corrugated and is subject to closure at short notice especially during wet conditions, we strongly recommend that you plan to enter from the sealed road near Hopetoun. Please check for any road closures via DBCA's Parks Alert website before heading out to avoid disappointment especially if entering from South Coast Highway as Hamersley Drive north (northern entrance of the Park) commences after travelling approximately 7km on West River Road (south).
The campground is an ideal place to base yourself to explore the untamed wilderness of the National Park and provides close access to Hamersley Inlet for all of your hiking, boating and fishing activities with only a short 4WD to Hamersley Beach or Hamersley Sand Dunes. A walk track from Hamersley Inlet will also connect you to the Hakea Walk Trail at Hamersley Beach. Reminder that NO PETS or FIRES permitted within the National Park and campground booking does not include your National Park entry. Park passes can be pre-purchased from various outlets in WA including the Hopetoun Community Centre, online via Parks and Wildlife or at a fee-paying station at entrance of the National Park.
