Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre- Whole Venue
About this space
The Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre is a community space located within the Piney Lakes Reserve in City of Melville. Surrounded by nature with easy access to nature trails we offer a uniquely tranquil and beautiful space. Our centre is exclusively focused on providing space and resources to groups dedicated to environment, sustainability and First Nations People. To ensure that our venue remains dedicated to this purpose we may decline booking inquiries that do not align with these principles.
Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre offers a versatile venue that can accommodate up to 140 guests for a wide range of events. The entire venue encompasses three rooms and an outdoor area, providing ample space for various activities such as school programs, workshops, product demonstrations, guest speakers, instructional presentations, arts and crafts activities, and more. The rooms are spread across two stories, with the spacious Binjar and Marlak rooms located on the top floor, while the smaller Ngoolark room situated on the ground floor, conveniently connected to the outdoor amphitheatre. Rooms are equipped with high tech interactive screens and plenty of tables and chairs for any kind of setup. This layout allows for flexible event planning where multiple activities can be happening concurrently and areas can be setup in advance, ensuring a well-coordinated experience for everyone.
The centre offers access to a shared kitchen and each room is equipped with a tea trolley, urn, black tea, and instant coffee for your convenience. We kindly request that you bring your own milk and consumables. To promote sustainability and reduce waste, we offer a free catering kit to hirers. This kit includes serving ware, cutlery, plates, and cups. We encourage you to make use of this kit and refrain from using disposable items. If you require a substantial amount of catering equipment, please notify us in advance so that we can accommodate your needs accordingly.
The Centre does not provide direct servicing, but the centre is generally staffed by dedicated personnel from 8am – 5pm on weekdays. Whilst their main focus is on maintaining the facility, they can offer limited assistance during those hours. For event specific arrangements we recommend discussing your needs in advance.
All new hirers must arrive 15 minutes prior to their booking time to undergo a brief induction. If your booking falls outside normal office hours an induction will need to be scheduled with staff.
