About this space
The City of Melville EcoHub is a located within the Piney Lakes Reserve in City of Melville. Surrounded by nature with easy access to nature trails we offer a uniquely tranquil and beautiful space. Our centre is exclusively focused on providing space and resources to groups dedicated to environment, sustainability and First Nations People. To ensure that our venue remains dedicated to this purpose we may decline booking inquiries that do not align with these principles.
The Marlak room, meaning bush/bushland in the Whadjuk Noongar language, can accommodate 85 people for standing or interactive events and up to 60 people seated theatre style. The Marlak room is specifically designed for interactive workshops and educational events, offering flexible seating arrangements that cater to hands-on activities, classroom-style setups, as well as intimate meetings and is ready for any kind of presentation with its high-tech interactive screen and speaker system. The room feels open and airy with double doors leading to a shared veranda with beautiful views of the EcoHub garden, Piney Lakes Community Garden and Piney Lakes Reserve.
In this room you will be provided with 6 large trestle tables, 10 square tables and 60 chairs. For event specific arrangements we recommend discussing your needs in advance.
EcoHub offers access to a shared kitchen and each room is equipped with a tea trolley, urn, black tea, and instant coffee for your convenience. We kindly request that you bring your own milk and consumables. To promote sustainability and reduce waste, we offer a free catering kit to hirers. This kit includes serving ware, cutlery, plates, and cups. We encourage you to make use of this kit and refrain from using disposable items. If you require a substantial amount of catering equipment, please notify us in advance so that we can accommodate your needs accordingly.
The Marlak Room does not provide direct servicing, but EcoHub is generally staffed by dedicated personnel from 8am – 5pm on weekdays. Whilst their main focus is on maintaining the facility, they can offer limited assistance during those hours. All new hirers must arrive 10 minutes prior to their booking time to undergo a brief induction.
