The Melville Woodturners are a member of the Woodturners Association and Western Australia, a not-for-profit organisation, that was formed by a group of 18 woodturning hobbyists in August 1985 and has since grown to approximately 500 members, within 12 groups, spread across Perth’s suburbs and the State’s Southwestern region. The following information may assist you in getting to know how we operate.

About this space

The Kardinya Lesser Hall Meeting Room is in the Morris Buzacott Reserve Kardinya, and is a purpose built meeting room attached to the Woodturners room of the Lesser Hall. It is a self contained room with a capacity for eighty persons. There is an external veranda on the south side with external services attached to the room. The room has great acoustics and is sound insulated from the adjacent workshop by an moveable sound proofed wall. It has a galley kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, Zip boiling water dispenser, double sink, dishwasher, microwave and electric conventional oven. Two mobile benches and ample cupboard spaces for temporary storage. The room is air-conditioned with two independent evaporative systems. North and south side glass windows and doors allow plenty of natural light and cross ventilation. Male, female and ambulant toilets are attached to the room. The room lighting is setup to be operated in numerous ways with partial or full lighting for all or part of the room.

Included in the hire space is 60 padded seat and back chairs, 8 fold-able tables (seat 6 persons), exclusive use of the veranda, access to the center video screen/TV 4K resolution TV screen fixed to the bulkhead. The screen has facility to plug in HDMI2 or USB feed cables. You must bring your own adapters and or cables. The connection is at the side of the central screen. The TV has access to free to air channels. There is no internet provided and if required users must provide their own Hot spot facility and devices. 4 wall mounted speakers are provided along with two wireless microphones for hirer's use.

There are approximately 16 internal power points (including two drop downs in the room and two external power points on the veranda. Bring your own extension leads.
The kitchen is integrated to the room. You're welcome to use the kitchen for self catering your event or with external caterers. Included in the kitchen there is a sink, water boiler, fridge, oven , microwave and dishwasher. You will need to bring your own cutlery, glassware, crockery and cooking and serving equipment. You are expected to leave the kitchen as you found it and book enough time to clean it after you event. Limited cleaning equipment is provided. All rubbish must be removed from the facility.

You are welcome to serve alcohol at your event, but not permitted to sell alcohol.

You are welcome to decorate the hall space for your event. However, you cannot use pins or tape or anything that would damage the hall walls. Blu tac is OK. Please note the hall must be left as you found it, so all decorations - including ties must be removed. Please no confetti, rice or party poppers in the outside area. All decorations and anything you have brought in for your event must be removed by the end of your booking, we can't accommodate storage or set up/pack down before or after your booking time has ended. Please book the time you need in the hall space to set up, pack down and clean as the hall may be used directly before or after you.

The hall has incorporated adjacent toilet facilities with female, male and ambulant facilities with serviced sanitary bins. There are 2 accessible car parking spaces adjacent to the Lesser Hall. There are no baby changing facilities.

Rules

  • No smoking or vaping

  • No naked flames

  • If you set off the fire alarm, there may be a fine if the fire service are called to a false alarm

  • No BBQs inside the building but permitted on southern side veranda.

  • No smoke machine

  • Failure to disarm or arm the security alarm on entering or exiting room requiring a response from security service will inccur a $100 fee

100% refund on cancellations up until 7 days before your booking. After that, cancel and get a 50% refund.

There is ample parking adjacent to the Kardinya Lesser Hall and the Community Centre.
