Piney Lakes Environmental Centre - Bottom Level
About this space
The Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre is a community space located within the Piney Lakes Reserve in City of Melville. Surrounded by nature with easy access to nature trails we offer a uniquely tranquil and beautiful space. Our centre is exclusively focused on providing space and resources to groups dedicated to environment, sustainability and First Nations People. To ensure that our venue remains dedicated to this purpose we may decline booking inquiries that do not align with these principles.
Hire of the bottom level includes 2 rooms; The Ngoolark Room and the Moodjar Room.
The Ngoolark Room is a classroom-style space connected to our outdoor amphitheatre, offering accommodation for up to 35 guests. Named after the significance of Piney Lakes Reserve as a habitat and food source for the endangered Carnaby's Black Cockatoo, also known as Ngoolark. This space is particularly suitable for events with schools or kids group seeking a designated area for “wet” activities such as arts and crafts or hands on experiments. The grassed amphitheatre area adjoining this space provides additional opportunities for engaging “messy” presentations and interactive workshops. The room showcases a collection of animal specimens and nature samples generously collected and donated to the centre, creating a captivating environment filled with intriguing things for observation and learning.
The Moodjar Room is the ultimate space for your private and intimate gatherings at our Centre. With a capacity to comfortably accommodate up to 40 guests, this space is specifically designed to cater to a variety of needs, from professional meetings to tranquil children's story time sessions. In this space you’ll find plush couches, a spacious sitting rug, and a collection of reading books with the ability for flexible table and chair arrangements for any type of setup. For modern and high-tech gatherings, we've equipped the space with an interactive smart screen, ensuring seamless presentations and collaborative discussions.
The centre offers access to a shared kitchen and each room is equipped with a tea trolley, urn, black tea, and instant coffee for your convenience. We kindly request that you bring your own milk and consumables. To promote sustainability and reduce waste, we offer a free catering kit to hirers. This kit includes serving ware, cutlery, plates, and cups. We encourage you to make use of this kit and refrain from using disposable items. If you require a substantial amount of catering equipment, please notify us in advance so that we can accommodate your needs accordingly.
Piney Lakes Environmental Centre does not provide direct servicing, but the centre is generally staffed by dedicated personnel from 8am – 5pm on weekdays. Whilst their main focus is on maintaining the facility, they can offer limited assistance during those hours.
All new hirers must arrive 15 minutes prior to their booking time to undergo a brief induction. If your booking falls outside normal office hours an induction will need to be scheduled with staff.
